Economic Development

Economic Development is a cornerstone of the Cooperative’s philosophy.  Through its subsidiary, the Black River Economic Development Corporation, the Cooperative actively recruits and promotes industry in the area. Companies such as Caterpillar, Diebold, Federal Mogul and the King Company have partnered with the Cooperative for mutual economic development.

Airport-Black River Industrial Park in Sumter is one of the premier industrial locations in Sumter.  Jointly managed by the Black River Economic Development Corporation and the Sumter Economic Development Board, the park offers such amenities as city water and sewer, affordable Black River Cooperative electricity, and access to a variety of transportation modes.  Additionally, the Cooperative provides flexible and innovative incentives, including customized spec building development.  Local governments also offer attractive incentive packages.

Our service area has much to offer, including a youthful and skilled labor force, access to all types of transportation, affordable utilities and a quality of life second to none.  To find out more about the business opportunities available in the Industrial Park or elsewhere, please contact Charlie Allen, P O Box 130 Sumter SC 29151 or c.allen@blackriver.coop.
