Effective October 1, 2013
Black River Electric Cooperative last had a general rate increase in 2008. However, we did begin charging a Wholesale Power Adjustment (WPA) in April of 2012. As a result, the price you paid for energy last month was nearly $0.10 per kilowatt hour (kWh).
Eighty percent of Black River’s expenses come from the purchase of wholesale power which has increased 25% since 2008. EPA restrictions, materials, supplies and other factors have contributed to this increase.
Beginning in October of this year, we are going to implement a rate increase.
The new cost per kilowatt hour (kWh) will be $0.105. For a complete breakdown of all rate schedules click here.
